Give to UNICEF directly through your pay
If you’re a UK taxpayer, payroll or workplace giving allows you to give a monthly donation to UNICEF directly from your gross salary.
Payroll giving is a tax efficient way for you to support UNICEF’s work. Your donation comes from your salary before tax is deducted, and the Inland Revenue passes the tax relief to UNICEF. Giving through your payroll is a great way to help UNICEF make lasting change for children.
What are the benefits of payroll giving?
When you set up a donation through your payroll, the amount you choose to give is taken from your salary before tax deductions, so the cost to you is less. For example, if you want to give UNICEF a regular gift of £10, only £8 will be deducted from your salary each month. The extra £2 comes from the Inland Revenue.
UNICEF automatically receives all of the tax from your gift, even if you pay a higher rate of tax.
How does my payroll gift help children?
By setting up a regular donation through your payroll, you can support UNICEF’s work helping to keep children safe around the world. For example, your donation could provide mosquito nets to protect children from malaria, or supply life-saving treatment for malnourished children.
Some employers offer a matched giving scheme, which means they will double the gift you make to UNICEF each month. Some even ‘double-match’ employees’ contributions. Ask your employer if they’re part of the matched giving payroll scheme.
How do I set up a regular payroll donation?
Donating through your payroll ensures UNICEF receives your entire donation, at a reduced cost to you. This is because the Inland Revenue pays the tax on your donation, so you don’t have to. You need to be a UK taxpayer to be eligible and your employer must offer payroll giving, so check this first.
To set up your regular donation, download and fill in the payroll giving form at the bottom of the page. Once you’ve completed it, send it to [email protected] or UNICEF UK, Payroll gifts, Freepost RTCU-SJSX-KCXA, 1 Westfield Avenue, Stratford, London E20 1HZ.
We’ll do the rest.
Once the form is processed, your employer will be told and your donation will come out of your gross salary each payday.
Giving a regular donation to UNICEF is a great way for you to help make a real difference to the lives of children around the world.
