United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child
Periodic Review 2022
Every five years, each country that has ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) has to report to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child about how their progress, to ensure rights are respected and realised for all children. This is known as a Periodic Review.
The UK Government a ratified the UNCRC in 1991 and in 2022 the UK will be taking part in its sixth Periodic Review. In June 2022 the UK Government submitted their response to the UNCRC Periodic Review and the Children’s Minister, Will Quince MP, wrote to children and young people across the UK, highlighting this submission.
This process involves a wide range of people and groups including children and young people themselves, and representatives from UNICEF.
