Global learning and the promotion of global citizenship should follow naturally as part of becoming Rights Respecting. This course aims to introduce you to these concepts by offering clarity about global citizenship linked to rights.
You will explore what we mean by global citizenship and explore various practical ways in which you can start to highlight this in your setting. You will share your current practice and we will introduce activities and examples from other schools to help you develop global citizenship in your curriculum and practice.
This course is particularly suitable for RRSA coordinators who are working towards Bronze or Silver or who are new to RRSA and/or Global Citizenship. You may wish to attend with your Eco Schools, Green Flag or Fairtrade coordinator.
Objectives are:
- To explore what we mean by global citizenship in a Rights Respecting school.
- To understand the knowledge, skills and attributes of a Global Citizen.
- Develop practical ideas on Global Citizenship to support your successful progression towards Silver or Gold accreditation.
Course duration: 1.5 hours (1.30 – 3pm) or (4 – 5:30pm)
Cost: This training is included in your membership fee and is free for state primary and secondary schools in Scotland. If your school has not paid your membership fee, training costs are £210 per participant. Platform: Sessions will take place online, via Microsoft Teams. You will not need to download any special software to access, you will be able to join the session through your web browser.
