What is happening in Yemen?

Yemen is facing one of world’s worst emergencies and over 9.8 million children need your help. The ongoing conflict has left children and families in urgent need of food, water and medical supplies.

Currently, 4.5 million people are internally displaced and hundreds of thousands of Yemeni children are growing up in unsafe conditions.

Any outbreak of diseases will place an even greater demand on medical staff and already scarce hospital resources such as gloves, soap and ventilators.

18.2 million people in Yemen require urgent support

After almost a decade of conflict, Yemen and its health system have been pushed to the brink of collapse. Millions of children lack access to clean water and sanitation facilities and are in desperate need of basic healthcare. Malnutrition is also at an all-time high.

The lack of a comprehensive political resolution to the country’s conflict, amid the deteriorating economic situation, means that the needs of children and their families continue to increase

We must act now to protect Yemen’s children from the dangers of war, disease and hunger.

How to donate to Yemen

Your donation to our Yemen Appeal will make a difference in the lives of children in Yemen forever.

You can help heal a child suffering from malnutrition for £20 a month with life-saving therapeutic food.

Alternatively, you can help a classroom of 37 children in Yemen continue their education and reach their potential with exercise books for just £15 a month.

Can I make a one-off donation?

If you prefer to make a single one-off donation, this option is available on the donation form above, or over the phone.

With a single donation of £39, you can help provide 260 children with a single dose of oral Polio vaccine.

How will my donation help children?

We are working around the clock to protect children in Yemen.

In 2024, we have:

  • Provided access to clean water to over 735,000 people.
  • Helped over 58,000 children gain access to quality education by creating learning spaces and supporting the rehabilitation of schools.
  • Provided individual learning materials to over 44,000 children (50 per cent girls) in Taiz, Ibb, Marib, and Ad Dahlia governorates.
  • Worked with partners to deliver emergency relief to 72,800 people across 18 governates.
  • Empowered 13,000 children to complete their vaccination schedules by training adolescents to engage their peers and communities.
  • Worked with our partners to provide life-saving education on risks posed by mines, unexploded ordnances, and explosive remnants of war to over 1.3 million affected people.

However, we simply don’t have enough funds to reach every child in need. We need your help to provide essential life-saving supplies for the children who need them the most.

Donating by phone

For the first 6 months, monthly donations made to this appeal will go towards funding our work to support children affected by the emergency in Yemen. After that, donations will go to support our work around the world. In the unlikely events of funds raised exceeding what is needed, or if funds cannot viably be directed to this appeal, we will direct funds to support our work to help keep children safe and healthy around the world.
