What is happening in Syria?
The war in Syria has been going on for over 13 years. This, coupled with the destruction from the 2023 earthquakes and the recent influx of displaced people from Lebanon, means that 7.4 million children need urgent support.
Over 440,000 people have crossed from Lebanon into Syria since the escalation of conflict in Lebanon. Around 27% of those crossing into Syria are Lebanese nationals, and approximately 58% of displaced people are children.

How are we helping children in Syria?
Since the start of the influx of displaced people in Syria, we have:
- Supported over 2,300 Syrian and Lebanese students through our non-formal education programmes.
- Continued to provide WASH services at border crossing points.
- Continued to provide outpatient consultations to screen children under 5 years for malnutrition.
- Supported children and families with hygiene kits, adolescent kits and family emergency kits.
- Issued a joint statement with the Nutrition Sector and the Ministry of Health to protect, promote and support the feeding and care of infants, young children, and their caregivers, especially pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women.

How are we helping children in neighbouring countries?
We are one of the few humanitarian organisations working inside Syria, as well as being present for children and families affected by crises in nearby countries, including The State of Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Türkiye and Yemen.
Empowered by the generous contributions of our supporters and partners, we are working hard throughout the region to provide vital support and services including nutrition supplies, access to clean water and vaccines against disease.
Across the region, we are creating child-friendly spaces, which offer learning support and psychological care, as well as a safe space to play.
At the same time, we are working to protect, promote and uphold the rights of Syrian children who have made the dangerous journey to Europe in search of a better future.
