COP29: Advocating for Children
Impacted by Climate Change

Today, one billion children are at extremely high risk of the impacts of the climate crisis.  At COP29, we have joined world leaders and policymakers to address the challenges of climate change which disproportionately impact the world’s most vulnerable children.

Climate challenges include:

  • Lack of adequate nutrition and clean drinking water
  • Damage to infrastructure for washing and good hygiene
  • Limited access to healthcare to cure diseases
  • Disruption to children’s education

From the floods in Afghanistan and Pakistan which have destroyed homes and schools, to the droughts in East Africa which have led to malnutrition, children’s lives are at risk due to climate change.

The 2024 UN climate change conference – COP29 – is vital for helping us promote the conversation around supporting children and families impacted by climate change.

What is COP29?

The United Nations Climate Change Conference is an annual event where world leaders discuss and assess efforts to limit global warming, address climate change and advance the Paris Agreement. The Paris Agreement is a legally binding agreement signed by world leaders to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This conference is more commonly known as COP29.

Where is COP29?

COP29 is held at Baku Stadium. This is located in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan in Eastern Europe/Western Asia.

When is COP29?

COP29 is held from November 11th to November 22nd, 2024. It lasts for two weeks.

How are we supporting families battling the effects of climate change?

With the help of donations from our supporters and partners, we are building systems and services that help children and families affected by climate crises in over 70 countries, including:

  • Partnering with public and private sectors to promote clean, renewable and sustainable energy solutions.
  • Building climate-proof schools and hospitals.
  • Vaccinating children against diseases borne out of climate disasters such as cholera and watery diarrhoea.
  • Helping children access a quality education amidst climate disasters.

Moreover, we want the UK’s leadership to commit to protecting children from the climate crisis. We are proud to have influenced more laws and policies that protect children than anyone else, but we need support from people like you to keep making a difference. By signing our petition today, you can help us urge the government to take action for the world’s children.
